small medical operation?!?!
& hm, looks interesting! I’ll have to look into this after the Bell Jar. =)
book recommendation!
last wednesday morning, i had a small medical operation done, so i spent the rest of the day curled up on the sofa. while thus incapacitated, i read the grass dancer by susan power. it’s a good thing that i had an excuse to lie around; i wouldn’t have been able to put it down otherwise.
the grass dancer is several stories woven together into one. the first chapter opens at a pow-wow in 1981, where we meet several characters, young and old. the novel continues in reverse chronological order, and we slowly learn about the lives of the older characters. furthermore, we see how the decisions that were made in the past affect the future.
summary: love, heartbreak, war, and witchcraft. also, there are ghosts. lots of ghosts.
really, it’s good.
