I am so glad I wrote my resignation letter. But had I not, they would have been gunning for my job anyways. Any kind of unrest (that was totally preventable on their part) gets smothered (sp?) out.

so, i’ve had three or four people tell me this week that they don’t understand why i am going back to school. a couple have even gone as far as to tell me that i made a stupid decision turning down my own store.
these same people have laughed and made fun of my boss, saying she will never be anything more than a store manager.

Tiffany: Hello, I am not sure if I am contacting the right person but I certainly hope I am! This is Tiffany from CIS||AE and I wanted to get a hold of you about switching a couple of shifts. I put in a request at the beginning of August to get time off in September because I would be flying in to Massachusetts and three of the nights fall on when I would normally do my night audit (9/20,9/21,9/22). I did not hear from management, so at the beginning of September I wrote a reminder note about these dates. I volunteered myself to cover your shifts (two Fridays in August: August 22 and August 29th) and have also came in early/stayed late as they were only down to two desk clerks (Lora and myself) while they scrambled to get some clerks hired in. I work a second full-time job. I understand that you do as well. I did not work this extra time looking to be rewarded, but I did not think that it would be a big deal to try and get it covered. Lora told me today that they will not allow me to leave because they can't cover my shifts. I have reason to believe that they did not contact you to ask if you could cover. I am asking as a favor if you would/could. I have paid $300 for my plane tickets and I have worked very hard the past month in the hope of a little vacation time. I understand if you cannot, but I have never asked for time off from this position and I feel that if you could, I would be very grateful. I will be back on 9/23 and if you would like, I can cover your weekend shifts. I found you on facebook and I will be sending an email to the yahoo account. I only work audit at the hotel, so I didn't want to be bothering you at 11 pm at night.Thank you for taking the time to read this (and I hope this gets to the right person!)

Much as I want to be a nice person, I can't in good conscience cover your shifts because I know it would leave me mentally drained for my main job. I'm the entire writing staff for a 20,000-circulation weekly newspaper that's written for the Catholics in the 23-county Diocese of Columbus. We had another writer, but she was let go, so I'm worn out by the end of the day on this job. With all the extra people the hotel has been hiring, it needs to get someone else trained to do the overnight shift, because I just can't. I'm sorry to do this, because I covered many shifts for many people at the hotel when I was working there full-time while between journalism jobs, and I'll still come in early or stay late on the weekends, but working back-to-back shifts at the Catholic Times and the hotel would be a burden I can't put on myself.

Tim,Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I understand what it's like so I know why you can't. I wouldn't ask anyone to work the hours that I log, I'm kind of starting to feel the consequences. Have a good rest of the week!
